“Every new American carries their version of the “American Dream”. The majority of those who come to MORE have overcome great difficulties to get here and dream of a new and better life for themselves and their children. One of the most recently arrived groups, the Karen people, an ethnic minority from Myanmar (Burma) speak of not being allowed to claim Burma as their country, nor Thailand where they were refugees. They deeply desire to have a country they can call home and are deeply grateful that the United States gives them this opportunity. They are eager to adjust and contribute to their new community.”

“I’m coming to MORE School because I needed to learn English. The teachers teach me how to read, write, and speak. Also MORE School helped some students got a high school diploma, and go to college, and offering some jobs to the students. For several years I learned a lot of new things at MORE School. I got a job, got driver’s license. Before I couldn’t do anything by myself, because I didn’t understand. Now I can do whatever should I do. I’m so grateful to Minnesota government for giving me the opportunity and provide MORE School for adults. I so appreciate the MORE School teachers. You are wonderful!!!”

“My name is Ping. I’m from China. My school is helping in different ways. It helps students who are looking for a job. Our school doesn’t have hungry students, because we always have something to eat in the break time. Out school received coats, food, furniture, etc….from companies or persons. The school gathers things and opens on Friday for food and Saturday for everything for the neighborhood. If we don’t we rides for the furniture, the school staff will solve this problem. MORE school isn’t just a learning school. It also is a place open to everyone who wants help can get it from here.”
